The MUSTs in Building an Honest Relationship

    Monday, August 24th, 2009

If you want a great relationship, you and your partner must practice open communication. This means that your relationship is cemented by honesty coming from both sides. It is a relationship with no secrets and lies. Just imagine if you catch your partner lying. Will you still be happy about being with him? You will end up suspecting everything he does, whether he’s innocent or not.

    Share thoughts and ideas

Your relationship should not be purely physical. If it’s real love, you will enjoy hearing about each other’s day. Share your ideas about things that may interest both of you. Be open about your past life without sounding wistful. Just show him how much you want him to be part of your life.

    Avoid even the smallest lies

There is the little white lie and there is that harmless lie that may just cause trouble. The white lie makes you avoid hurting your partner. The other supposedly harmless lie is something that may be attached to something big. For example, if you lie about where you were and you got discovered, he may interpret it differently. You may just be there for a more innocent reason.

Confronting Your Fears about a Cheating Partner

    Saturday, August 22nd, 2009

It is a dark time when you suspect your partner of cheating. Your emotions are in conflict and you feel like you are in a limbo. If you confront him and he is guilty, how will you react? If you accuse him and he is innocent, how will he take things? However, if you keep quiet, this burden of suspicion will make your relationship unhappy – at least on your side.

    Confirm your suspicions first

Before you make unfounded accusations, confirm that your partner is cheating. Talk to a trusted friend about the signs you have been getting. Is he or she taking a lot of mysterious phone calls? Are they online until late in the evening, maybe engaging in adult chat with others? Sometimes you need someone who is detached from the situation to tell you if you are just being paranoid – or not. Better yet, try to find some strong evidence. There is no need to hire a private investigator; that will just show you at your suspicious worst.

    Confront your partner

If your partner is proved to be cheating, talk to him calmly. If he wants to stay with you, the state of your relationship depends on you. If you cannot endure a relationship with a cheater, you can let go. If you want to give him another chance, then give him an ultimatum.
