You should not panic when your man asks for space. Do not even appear overly distraught. Instead, accept his need for space. Some men may actually mean “space” as a prelude to a breakup. However, others just want a little break. If the latter is the case, you may drive him into a real breakup mode if you become hysterical or clingy. Just give him the break he needs and wait it out. You may even tell him that you also need some time alone. Now, that will make him think. Be mature with your reaction. A calm reaction may make him think about your finer points and make him want to forget about the “space” time. If he does proceed with it, live your life as you would as an independent woman. There are other aspects of yourself that is separate from him. Make sure that you develop some of your other strengths and pursue your other interests. This way, even if he does decide to make a clean break, you are strong enough to rise above it.
